The Anglet Pro provided the perfect launch for the Stand Up World Tour in Europe back in May of 2010, as the very best Stand Up Paddlesurfers congregated on France’s SW coastline to do battle against each other, but also the very best that Europe has to offer. With a mix of small waves and more powerful unpredictable surf for the final weekend, the Anglet Pro saw a new Champion crowned in the form of France’s very own, Antoine Delpero, and the start of the Title Race between Hawaii’s Kai Lenny and France’s Peyo Lizarazu. It also highlighted France’s strong presence on the Tour and the country’s position as a focal point for the sport in Europe.

For 2011, our partnership with Enbata, our French event partner continues, but also the partnership expands, to include XXIX, the Surf club and school championed by Brittany’s very own surfing champion, Ronan Chatain and Philippe Bru, legendary ocean sports event organizer. This new collaboration has seen a shift in venue for 2011 to the beautiful region of Brittany, in NW France and more specifically La Torche.

La Torche has seen many World Class competitions on its shores over the years, from surfing to windsurfing and kitesurfing and has an unparalleled seafaring history. With a wealth of great surf spots and a strong sense of culture and identity, the La Torche Pro promises to be an event to remember.

The Naish La Torche Pro, presented by O’Neill will take place from the 30th April to the 8th May and consist of a 48 man Trials event, a 32 man main event (Top 24 in the world rankings, 4 wildcards and the Top 4 finishers from the Trials) and the Na Kama Kai Youth Challenge for the U16s, celebrating the ever expanding wealth of young talent in the sport. All entries should email entryfrance@watermanleague.com.

We are proud to announce our partners for the event: Naish, O’Neill, XXIX, Enbata, le Pays Bigouden Sud, Credit Mutuel de Bretagne, Beach Concepts, Ecole de Surf de Bretagne, Conseil General de Finistere, Region Bretagne, Stand Up Journal, Enbata distribution (Gerry Lopez, Ron House, Quickblade).
